Toys: Birthday Wishes Ariel....

With the re-releasing of the The Little Mermaid movie I posted as a movie of the week some time ago, you can say it is almost like Ariel's birthday! Think about it. When you have a big birthday celebration you have birthday cake, presents, friends, and oh, oh, I know, I know.... dress up with birthday outfit  and all for your big day! Well your not the only! As you can imagine, Princess Ariel has done the same! With Disney Princess Birthday Wishes Ariel you can count her in too as she wears a festive party skirt around her shimmering tail with matching tiara on her long red hair as she sings a special song just for you and right before she gives you a ring of friendship!

Let Disney Princess Ariel be "apart of your world" as you bring her home and have a splashing time! I know it will be someone's birthday and would love to have her there!

"And Just one more thing".....you know I would be just a crab [sorry Sebastain :-) !] if I didn't remind you about the movie right?!

As you will read in my post here! and later see as you will watch the movie, why The Little Mermaid is such a great movie to celebrate. With all the dancing, singing, adventure having, and love ever after found in this film, you will understand why people get their fins in a flutter about Ariel. Plus, with re-release you can expect a whole lot of things that you would not get no where else like behind the scenes footage, deleted songs, and even the story of Harold Merman who didn't make the movie! Poor Harold :-( !

You'll be a "poor unfortunate soul" if you don't go and pick up The Little Mermaid Diamond Edition on October 1st!

Tips: Not Losing Yourself....

In school you can go through a lot of ups and downs. Trying to fit in is one of them. Everyone wants to be popular and everyone wants someone to sit with at lunch or play with them on the monkey bars.  Do you how to do that?  The best way to do that though is to simply be the oh so special you that no one else can be! I have been there, I know :-) !  It will save you time from people uncovering the not true you and it save you from friends who are not really your friends. Kids like honest kids. Kids like other kids that they can relate to. If you aren't being honest, you can never know what you and Billy Bob or Sam I am have in common! Maybe you all like eating green eggs and ham on a plane or heck, even on a train! Someone likes the color purple just like you and even jumping in mud puddles when it is raining. When I was honest and plain ol' me with my friends, I discovered these things. Who knew we all like the Power Rangers and Pokemon the First Movie? It is easy and all you have to do is take the first step. Never loose yourself to anyone or anything!

Movie of the Week: The Swan Princess....

"For longer than forever....."

What happens when you have an evil enchanter who is bent on overtaking a kingdom, a princess, a swan, and a prince who will go to the ends of the Earth to find you? You get...the Swan Princess. This movie, a classic movie, is something my siblings and I heavily watched when we were younger. We always use to camp out in the living room to watch it and see what was going to happen (even though we knew after the 10th sitting), as Princess Odette would go from a beautiful young maiden into a swan as the sun would set thanks to sorcerer Rothbart cursing her all in hopes that she would one day marry him. Rothbart, as you will see in the film, wants to be King and the only way to be that is for Odette's hand in marriage yet, she always refuses. Odette on the other hand, is waiting patiently for the day Prince Derek, her true love, will come and save her. The only problem with this is that everyone thinks she has died. After a mysterious "great animal" has killed Odette's father King William, Queen Uberta's Prince Derek's mother has moved on (despite her and the King planning to wed the two), and is now attempting to marrying him off despite his refusal. He has restlessly been on the look for Odette dispite his mother's thoughts. From here, you will see the magic of this movie unfold! In this movie you can expect a lot of high flying action, adventure, and a heaping dose of unforgettable songs that will have you routing for a happy ending! Now I can't tell you all that is in store, that is up to you to figure out! "Have no fear" as you watch the Swan Princess for your Movie of the Week! And as an added bonus, check out the clip below!

Superhero Alert: Steel of DC Comics...

John Henry Irons is the super powered hero Steel of DC Comics! This Man of Iron was greatly inspired from folk hero John Henry ( a steel driver who won a race against a steamed powered hammer machine) and the Man of Steel himself-- Superman!

John a genius inventor and engineer starts off his story working a corporation called AmerTrek. After realizing though his invention the BG-60, a powerful man portable energy cannon was used for evil, he destroyed the blue print and fled his job to another city called Metropolis. There, while working a construction job, ended up high on skyscraper falling off saving a friends life. However, he heroic effort not in vein because he was then saved by Superman! When asked how he could show is gratitude for the Kryptonian saving his life, Clark responded--"Live a life worth saving." It wasn't too long after that Irons would do just that.

During Superman's battle against the super villain Doomsday, he tried to return the favor by helping the Man of Steel but was buried in the rubble of this fight. Superman died thereafter. Once recovered and later finding out his design for AmerTrek was upgraded (BG-80) and used in a gang war, John Henry Irons in honor of Superman became the new Man Of Steel (which Superman later shortened to "Steel") and not destroyed the weapons (he found were given by AmerTrek known later as White Rabbit) but also the war that was going on. John's heroism would continue on leading him to land a spot of JLA (Justice League of America).

Steel's powers included battle armor that have a variety of powers like super strength, flight via jet boots, a kentic hammer (his most famous weapon), and a rivet cannon.

A little act of kindness can inspire a person to do great things! What would you do if were shown a great act of kindness? Would you become a hero too just like Steel? Leave comments below!

Randoms: Quote of the Day!

"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents"
- Emilie Buchwald

It is important to read to your children. Lead by example. If you read, the chances of your child following the footsteps of their parents are more than likely. Make it interesting and fun. Read stories that they love (like a Harry Potter, Heddrick McBride, Doctor Suess, Carolivia Herron) or would think about reading. After that, then slide a few educational books in for their minds, trust me it will pay off. Dramatize it. Take on the personality of the characters and story itself. If you do, your kids are going to be joyfully engaged. It will be like watching a movie being acted out or going to a play that they have gotten tickets to go and see. Come on, you were a child once before so you should know how fun it can and will be! Pick a day(s) to read! This can set the stage for your child to expect which day a story is to be read to them or on what days-- do everyday if you can. If you and your spouse read to the kids read together or split it up. One person gets this day and the other person gets the next or one person gets this week and the next person gets the next. I am sure you all can figure it out. Make them read the book with you. It will help improve their comprehension and their reading ability. Before you know it, they will be  going from cat and hat to supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Finally, make them start picking out books. Make sure it is something that they can read.

And there you have! Now get on that reading rainbow and read!

Randoms: First African-American In Space.....

"My desire was to [ give a hand] to the program"

August 30th marks the thirtieth year anniversary of the first African-American Astronaut in space! And that person goes by the name Guion"Guy" Bluford. He along with two other African-Americans ( Fred Gregory and Ron McNair) were chosen amongst the 35 spaceflyers selected (with six of them being women and one of the being the famous Sally Ride) on this ground breaking mission. This was part of the barrier breaking class of Astronauts in 1978.

He along with others, launched into a low-Earth orbit aboard Space Shuttle Challenger way back in 1983. Though he knew he could have be selected to become the first African-American in space, can you imagine he didn't even set out to be that pioneer? All he wanted to do was do the best he could. But as fate would have it, he efforts would rocket him off in American history! People all around stood patiently and eagerly early in the morning around 1am outside of Nasa just to see Guy fly. "What was so good about Guy was the fact that [he] was so good" states Charles Bolden the first black Administrator for NASA in 2009.

Hard work definitely pays off. Although Guion "Guy" Bluford didn't mind being second, he has over the years become fine with his mark in history. "I wanted to set the standard....so that other people would be comfortable with African-Americans flying in space" says Bluford in a NASA interview. Boy did you! Thanks to your efforts you have inspired millions and for that, I like to say... Thank You!

Tips: Back to School/ The importance of friends.....

Hey Y'all... I'm Back!!! After getting settled into school, I am here again to give you all a tip I am sure will come in handy! But enough of that, let's dive right in...

How does it feel going back to school?! Is it fun?! Is it exciting?! I am sure it is. I can imagine all the old friends that you met up with again and the new ones who will be familiar faces too in no time. This goes for you all who are at a new school too! I know you were excited to discover a new bunch of kids with some of them coming to a new school just like you!!! Hmmmpp...you know, this reminds me of the fun times I had going to school. I can vividly remember playing at recess with my friends and just doing all the fun stuff that us kids do! And what make this more memorable is that I still hang out with them to this day. Because of this this, it brings me to my tip of the week: The importance of friends.

Friends are important. They are there for you when you are down and they are there to share and make memorable to times with. They are even there to help you discover things that you never knew about...even if those things are about yourself! How many times did you not something but your best friend did? Or how about when you were scared of something and your friend scared or not, walked fearlessly with you it? It is important to treat those friends right and to always be there for them too whether you are sitting with them at lunch or giggling next to them in class after telling a really funny joke! Friends are important and special just like you. And I promise you those friends will last a lifetime. Who knows.....that good friend could even be YOU!

What makes a good friend? Are you a good friend? Leave comments below!
