Recipes: Halloween Whoopie Pies, Cameral Apples, and Wtich's Brew.....

Hello Everyone!!!!

Spooky times are approaching! And it will be fun! I  know you just can't wait for all the fun that is going to happen on the spooktacular day October 31st! And I am sure your appetite for excitement is going to be just as hungry as your appetite to eat and you know you can't go trick or treating on an empty stomach! So what I have done is found three recipes to help when this day comes.....muhahahaha!!!

Halloween Whoopie Pies:

For this recipe you will need:
  • unsweetened coco powder
  • baking soda
  • salt
  • all purpose flour
  • unsalted butter
  • veggie shortening
  • sugar
  • eggs
  • vanilla
  • light brown sugar
  • milk
  • orange/yellow sprinkles
  • meringue buttercream
After you combine all the ingredients and put it in a pit of fire for a good ol' 30 minutes, this recipe is good to serve about a good 32 ghost, ghouls, vampires, and witches. For the complete recipe click here: Whoopie Pies!

Cameral Apples
Now this recipe came from a tall and quite hair great and quite talkative were wolf of a traveling circus who happens to be a great cook that posted his recipe online. He said he got from so old woman selling red apples to a maiden by the name of Snow White and it was to....die for (cue the dramatic piano) !!!

For this recipe you will need:
  • 6 mediums apples (not the red kinds trust me you will thank me later)
  • wooden skewers
  • sugar
  • light corn syrup
  • sweetened condensed milk
  • salt
  • vanilla
  • optional: sprinkles, nuts, or chopped candy!
I tried this myself and it was ghously good! The recipe is fairly easy and is right here: Apples! Red apples and old ladies in black hooded dresses are not to be taken from! If you are not a ghost already, try not to be one if you get my drift.....
Witch's Brew:
And speaking of witches, this a brew from a witch you can trust......

You will need:
  • black cherry gelatin
  • boiling water
  • orange gelatin
  • boiling water
  • blueberries
  • kool-aid
Now if you feel yourself unskilled or need assistance called on a witch you know. This brew is a classic brew and they should be familiar with it. Besides they can brew just about anything! Click here for recipe: Brew!

For all your ingredient findings and more I put below two free apps to use when doing so:

Recipes: Natural Flavored Water.......

Do you remember that post I posted about lemon water? Well, think of this as the next step. Move over the soda, juice, and other store bought drinks because natural flavored water is all you are going to want!

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of fruits
  • Herbs (any kind that you like for example, mint, basil, sage, or rosemary)
  • Water
  • Ice
Supplies:
  • 2 quart pitcher or Jar with lid
  •  Muddler or wooden spoon
The basic formula when making this flavored water is to take a sprig of herbs (at most a handful) if you are using it, and bruise gently remembering not to break into pieces. Use the muddler or handle of a spoon to do this. Next add two cups of fruits that you would like to use in jar or pitcher. Press down or twist the muddler or spoon on the fruits just enough to release the juices of the fruits you are using. Fill the jar with ice and then add water. Lastly put the mixture in your handy dandy refrigerator and let it sit for one day covered. After that enjoy!

2 of my favorite combos are the watermelon + rosemary and pineapple + mint. Other good ones are: the all citrus with no herbs (1 orange, 1 lemon, and 1 lime sliced into rounds and then cut in 1/2), raspberry+ lime with no herbs ( quarter 2 limes + 2 cups of raspberries), and blackberry sage ( 2 sprigs of sage with 2 cups of blackberries).

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do!

Movie Night Treat: Incredible Royal Popsicles.....

You know with all that crime fighting and epic superhero battles, you are going to need something to cool you down. Don't sweat it though because below is a treat that is quick and easy for you to enjoy so you can get right back to action!

Royal Ice Pop Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of blueberry Juice
  • 4 popsicle molds
  • Frozone (or you can use the freezer! It won't be as exciting but it works the same!)
Now we all know superheroes have sometimes foods or items that help charge them before a good episode of crime fighting like Popeye with his can of spinach or Green Lantern with his power ring. In our case we have blueberry juice! It not only tastes good but it also is healthy and you know what they say, a healthy hero is a strong hero! Now If you can get fresh blueberry juice from your close super powered friend. If you can't have your parents freshly make it or buy some from the market. Next you need Edna (you will learn who she is from the movie) to design you some special popsicle molders to pour your blueberry juice in. Lastly ask you neighbor Frozone to freeze the pops so that you can have them for backup in a battle with your arch nemesis. If he isn't home, go to plan B and put them in the freezer for 3 hours. I know it might be an eternity for you as a heroe but it is worth it! And there you have! Your formula to keep healthy and energized! Now go hero, go and watch that movie!

Dinner With A Movie: Pizza.....

Man you are going to need something to fill that tummy when you are enjoying the movie of the week! And what better way to enjoy your movie then with a slice of homemade pizza!
Ingredients

  • Pizza dough
  • Olive Oil
  • Cornmeal (to slide pizza on pizza stone)
  • tomato sauce (puree)
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Your choice of veggies
  • Pepperoni slices and/or your own choice of [other] meat
Preheat the oven to 450 and place baking pizza stone in for 30 minutes (preferably and hour).  With another pizza stone with a handle, sprinkle a hand full of cornmeal on the stone to make the pizza come off stone easily when sliding it onto the one in the oven. Take out pizza dough and make a crust along the edges if you don't have a pre-made pizza dough. Brush with olive oil to prevent it from getting soggy when adding toppings. Then add sauce, the cheese on, and lastly your meat and/or veggie toppings of your choosing. Open oven. Slide pizza on baking stone just after adding some cornmeal to it. Cook for 10-15 minutes! After that take it out and enjoy as you fill your tummies watching your weekend movie!

Fun Recipes: Marshmallows!

I bet you alway's wondered: "Where do marshmallows come from? Are they puffs of air? Are they given by some magical person that comes to houses late at night? Are they pieces of clouds fallen from the sky? They very well could be all of those things but there is a way to take all or least some of the wonder out of marshmallows. What's that? Well it is simple by making them ourselves of course! You are going to need a parent so grab one that is close by! Here is how to make marshmallows!

  • 1 cup of water + 1 more cup of water for the marshmallow root
  • 1 tablespoon of "magical" marshmallow root [if you can't find because it's magical that's OK! :-) ]
  • 4 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup of honey (from a friendly bee. Make sure you say please!)
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
Boil a cup of water and pour it over the marshmallow root. Stir it and let sit for 5 minutes then drain water. Combine 1/2 cup of water with gelatin and side aside. Pour other half of water with that honey from a bee you asked in a saucepan and heat until it reaches 240 degrees (make sure you don't stir the honey and water!). Now after you do that have your mommy or daddy mix with a mixer the gelatin and honey for 5-10 minutes (pour the honey very slowly while mixing). Once it has turned into a white fluff spread in a 9x13 pan greased or covered in parchment paper and let sit for 8 hours. I know it takes a while but the magic has to set! After that have your mom or dad cut the marshmallows into squares with a knife dipped in oil (coconut oil please!). And there you have it! Delicious fluffy and puffy marshmallows!
