The Movie:

Halloween town is full of witches, monsters, vampires, ghouls, and goblins who each year is lead into a frenzy with spooktastic and teeth chattering events from Pumpkin King Jack Skellington! Year after year they babble in joy of the festivities of this annual occasion. However, after years of the same ruse, Jack decides this year he wants to try to do something....different. Upon wondering through a forest, he stumbles on a portal that leads him to a place called Christmas Town! Bewitched by this finding, he concludes he will try his bones at this thing called Christmas though, he knows very little of it. Sally, a rag-doll who is in love with Jack, tries to steer him away from the idea fearing that it will only end up in disaster but, he in his excitement, doesn't listen. As a result he sends Lock, Shock, and Barrel (three mischievous kids) out to get Santa Claus to find out more about this holiday. However, instead of bringing Santa back to him Lock, Shock, and Barrel bring him back to Oogie Boogie a gambling bogeyman who shakes things up for Jack Skellington as he decides to play a game... with Santa's life on the line! Things get real slimy from here! What will happen to Santa? What's Oogie up to and is Jack Skellington the great Pumpkin King going to get his wish of creating a amazing Christmas event? Author's Spotlight: April Chu.....

Author's Spotlight: April Chu!

You know, everyone has great talents. Some people can sing, others can dance, some are really great at solving problems while there are those that are very skilled at putting things together like a director or a script writer! April Chu's moreover, happens to be a talent of being really good at illustrating and storytelling! April Chu, an architect with a degree in Architeture from the University of California, is not only great at using her abilities for business, she is also brilliant at using her abilites of illustrating and storytelling for books and poems! Here is her story:

As April puts it, her first memories of this great talent started when she was just a little girl. "One of my most vivid and earliest memories as a young child was my drawing of an old man on a stool." Amazed at [my] work [ I ] showed it to her grandmother. [My] grandmother in amazement of this life like drawing showed [my] mother. "Did you know your daughter could draw?!" she stated. Both were very impressed. That approval was all Amy needed because after that, April Chu fell in love with her new found gift. As much as she could, she as a result would draw. Everyday after watching cartoons, she would draw and create her own characters and stories, filling up her school notebooks with her "outlandish" designs! And with those outlandish design, she would continue drawing and drawing allowing herself to perfect her gift which propelled her to do many great things!

One of those things happening to be her becoming a member of SCBWI (Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators). The other is her illustrating two books both of which will be out in the spring and fall of 2014! And all that from just one doodle. How Cool is that?! Very cool if you ask me! April has definitely come a long way from doodling in her notebooks and watching cartoons on television! And because she has come a long way, it teaches all of us a valuable lesson: Dreams and talents can take you far; all you have to do is believe in yourself and what you are good at. From there no one can shake or break your spirit. Take a note or two even a doodle from our Author/Illusrator in the spotlight: April Chu!

Recipes: Halloween Whoopie Pies, Cameral Apples, and Wtich's Brew.....

Hello Everyone!!!!

Spooky times are approaching! And it will be fun! I  know you just can't wait for all the fun that is going to happen on the spooktacular day October 31st! And I am sure your appetite for excitement is going to be just as hungry as your appetite to eat and you know you can't go trick or treating on an empty stomach! So what I have done is found three recipes to help when this day comes.....muhahahaha!!!

Halloween Whoopie Pies:

For this recipe you will need:
  • unsweetened coco powder
  • baking soda
  • salt
  • all purpose flour
  • unsalted butter
  • veggie shortening
  • sugar
  • eggs
  • vanilla
  • light brown sugar
  • milk
  • orange/yellow sprinkles
  • meringue buttercream
After you combine all the ingredients and put it in a pit of fire for a good ol' 30 minutes, this recipe is good to serve about a good 32 ghost, ghouls, vampires, and witches. For the complete recipe click here: Whoopie Pies!

Cameral Apples
Now this recipe came from a tall and quite hair great and quite talkative were wolf of a traveling circus who happens to be a great cook that posted his recipe online. He said he got from so old woman selling red apples to a maiden by the name of Snow White and it was to....die for (cue the dramatic piano) !!!

For this recipe you will need:
  • 6 mediums apples (not the red kinds trust me you will thank me later)
  • wooden skewers
  • sugar
  • light corn syrup
  • sweetened condensed milk
  • salt
  • vanilla
  • optional: sprinkles, nuts, or chopped candy!
I tried this myself and it was ghously good! The recipe is fairly easy and is right here: Apples! Red apples and old ladies in black hooded dresses are not to be taken from! If you are not a ghost already, try not to be one if you get my drift.....
Witch's Brew:
And speaking of witches, this a brew from a witch you can trust......

You will need:
  • black cherry gelatin
  • boiling water
  • orange gelatin
  • boiling water
  • blueberries
  • kool-aid
Now if you feel yourself unskilled or need assistance called on a witch you know. This brew is a classic brew and they should be familiar with it. Besides they can brew just about anything! Click here for recipe: Brew!

For all your ingredient findings and more I put below two free apps to use when doing so:

Happy cooking.......

School Tips: Doing Well In School.....

With all this Halloween planning, it is easy to get distracted, especially at school! And though this might be true, you have to stay focus and do well. Make sure you are doing all of your homework and make sure you are paying attention in class. If you don't, there won't be any Halloween Party or trick or treating because you are going to be grounded or in time out and what kid wants that! That's scarier than any Boogie Man under your bed or black cat crossing your path as you are walking to school, making you accidentally step on a crack in the sidewalk that is rumored to break your mom's back! School isn't just for nerds, its also for kids who want to do great things when they grow up and......trick or treating or throwing really awesome parties is one of them!

Movie Night: The Prince of Egypt.....

"When you believe......"
  Hello you all!

It's that time again! The time where we sit down and take a look at which movie's going to be your movie of the week! This week, I have chosen a movie that is brave, thrilling, and also spectacular! What movie is it? *Drum roll*........The Prince of Egypt! It is a little different from your previous choices but, it wouldn't exciting if you didn't see it right?! Besides, isn't it always fun trying something new?!

In the movie, The Prince Of Egypt, it tells the story of Moses a man taken from the Book Of Exodus ( say it with me: X-O-DA-US) and his life as a prince turned leader that will free his people the Hewbrews, out Israel (Is-Ra-El) to Egypt. In the beginning a terrible event is happening where all the male infants are being harmed to avoid Pharaoh Seti, the ruler at that time, from being taken down he feels is going to happen from the increase of male Hewbrews being born. He was successful however he missed one, and that one happened to be Moses. His mother to save him put him in a basket and sent him down a stream only to be found by Queen Tuya, Seti's wife, who raises him and thus gives him his name we know him by. It would be only 20 years later from that event that Moses would find out his true identity would in the end, change his life forever as he is set on freeing his people the Hewbrews, that were being treated poorly. From there, he and his adopted brother Pharaoh Rameses relationship will torn as they fight on two different sides: keeping the Hebrews enslaved or letting them go free. Only time will tell if their relationship can be prepared but you have to see it to figure it out!

The Prince of Egypt is really great and is a must for this week! It won an Oscar (which is a really fancy award) so why wouldn't it be great and the perfect movie! Give yourself a break from your party planning and Halloween costume designing and watch this movie! Take a look at the trailer below, the actual movie, and the theme song for the film! Enjoy!!!

Tips: More Help With Planning For Halloween

In an effort to help you this spooky October, I have made it my mission to find great places to help assist you and this post is no different......

Ink Garden, an online customization site is a site that allows you to personalize over 3,500 items! Imagine that 3,500 items! And with this holiday season coming up, you need a place that has a range of products, that are reliable, cost friendly, and fluid enough to allow you to do what you wish. Choose from an unlimited number of pictures from their picture gallery to personalize your purchases when ordering your item or better yet, use your own picture or create one from scratch. It is that easy!

The two items that I know you will need are: cards and Halloween goodie bags!

First off on our list are invitation cards! Even if you aren't using these as invitation cards, you can simply use them as cards with spooky sayings on them as you give them to trick or treaters who come clamoring at your door asking for candy! Or, give them to parents in your neighborhood to let them know a party is at your house and everyone's invited. You can even send some with your kids too so they can let all their friends know at school that a party is a brewing at your house.....cue witch laugh--"hehehehe!!!" These are fun, spooky, and neat cards you will enjoy! Best of all you save and get free shipping on your first purchase!

Shop Custom Cards & Stationary at InkGarden! 50% Off Your Entire Order!
Next on our list, goodie bags! Whether you go out with your kids trick or treating or are inviting people over for your event, you need goodie bags! And not just any goodie bag, rather, you want these to stand out! Add your child's personal flare as they dress up like Mummies and Witches screaming : "treat or treat give me something good to eat!" Or likewise if you decide to bring kids over, make it official and re-memorable by customizing their bags to remember this day when they leave. I know this will come in handy as I am preparing and gearing up for my nephew's Halloween themed birthday party! I am definitely going to use this approach and boy does it help to save in the process while being creative and festive!

Time Capsule: Young Justice......

Another great show has made it to the Time Capsule Vault of extraordinary shows and it is called... Young Justice. This was a show cut way too early and left many asking why. I was one of them as I am sure you were also. While this show has gone off of our TV screens not to aired as re-runs any time soon, we can remember the greatness of this show. As a matter of fact I have seasons one and two with me! Whether you have watched this show before or are discovering this show for the first time, here is Young Justice in all of its glory!

Young Justice: Season 1
Young Justice Season 1 !
The first season as many of you all know gives you an introduction to our main cast like Robin, Ms. Martian, and Aqualad as well as many other young justice heroes as they struggle to move up the ranks from being sidekicks of their superhero counterparts like Superman and Wonder Woman to super heroes themselves. From the very first episode "Independence Day" to the first last of the season "Auld Acquaintances", you get to see them do just that as they battle foes like Sportsmaster and Abra Kadabra! Moreover, you also get to see them unite into a team you know and will love! If you love action, comics, or crime fighting for those who haven't see this exciting show, you are in for a treat! And For those who have seen this show just jump right on in!

Young Justice: Season 2

Once you have gotten to know and get caught with season 1, come on down to season 2 as you will be ready to find out or rediscover the evolution of our characters Aqualad, Robin who is know NightWing, Ms. Martin, Super Boy and even the new editions like Zantana and Red Arrow who we met the first go around. In this season an Alien "Invasion" has occured on planet Earth and it is up to the gang once again to solve this mission especially after the Justice League (the more experienced and high ranking heroes) have to face trail for crimes off Earth at the Council of Rimbor. Heroes will become villains, friends will become enemies, love will be lost, and secrets will be revealed! New enemies will step up like Tigress and the highly destructive War World operated by a villain Mongul will come through in a massive way! Get your look at season 2 below!

Can't get enough of YJ?! Good because you can get your hands at 3 characters from the show:

Aqua Lad!

Leader of Young Justice and Skilled Atlantean. He can use water to help him fight foes and his super strength to protect allies. He also can breath under water and move with ease under pressure!
Red Arrow!
Red Arrow. He is a highly trained althelete with an array of weapons most notably his "red arrow,'' that he can send at targets with accuracy and rescission!

Artemis!

Artimes who is similar to Red Arrow with her skills and weapons is also taking a shot as a action figure! What's makes her special is unlike Red Arrow she can track and hunt down a villain better than any one around her making her a shot above the rest! You can be sure to count her in!

Enjoy Young Justice and remember to tell a friend! It is always best to share. And don't forget to tell them too about UHETV'S kids blog here for your entertainment and a spot with a lot of great things for you to discover and like :-) !
